When the COVID-19 pandemic struck, Zoom saw a significant increase in usage for remote work and online education. It was in May 2012 when the company took the name Zoom, based on the children’s book, Zoom City. It wasn’t a smooth start when it comes to finding investors, because there were too many companies offering video-telephony services. He, along with 40 engineers, built what was known as Saasbee, Inc.
In 2011, Eric Yuan left Cisco to start a new company.
Another impressive feature is its consistent video clarity, even on weak internet connections. What sets Zoom apart from other video-telephony services is that it runs smoothly on mobile phones – a trait that the competition couldn’t match up to this day.
